Eric Hirschhorn is the Chief Data Officer (CDO) of BNY Mellon. He is part of the Global Operations and Technology Executive Committee and reports to the firms CIO, Bridget Engle. As CDO, Eric is focused on digital transformation, operational efficiency, artificial intelligence/machine learning, regulation and helping the firm evolve to become data driven by design.

Before joining BNY Mellon, Eric was the Chief Information Officer for Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Partners. Prior to Cantor, he spent several years in various senior roles on Wall Street, most recently as Managing Director of Global Fixed Income eTrading & Rates Technology at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Prior to Bank of America, Eric was at Morgan Stanley serving as CTO of Fixed Income, at Citi where he ran Global FX technology, at Lehman where he was responsible for Global Fixed Income eTrading, and at JPMorgan Chase where he ran International Treasury technology. His professional life has taken him around the world including several years living in London. Eric is an authority on how technology drives transformation in financial markets. He has been involved in various industry working groups.

Eric graduated Cooper Union in 1989. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and current serves as Vice Chair of the Board Trustees at the Cooper Union. Eric lives in New Jersey with his wife, Hillary, and their two children.

The platform connects the global financial community to the information needed to generate alpha, manage risk and gain transparency into public and private markets. The platform also provides end-to-end data management services, as well as infrastructure that enables users to privately share proprietary data, manage data access and monitor data quality over time within a single organization.

Prior to this role, Bill led Nasdaq’s alternative data research (including teams from the Quandl acquisition). Bill and his team applied leading-edge technologies such as deep learning to create new solutions for traditional and alternative asset managers, and quant trading groups.

Formerly the Director of Data Science, with a deep background in software engineering, he focused on putting alternative data to work on financial problems using machine intelligence. Bill is particularly interested in applications of deep reinforcement learning and complex systems analysis to financial markets. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago and a management degree from the Wharton School of Business.

Barry has recently joined TickSmith Corp as its Head of Data Practice. TickSmith is a cloud-based data and commerce platform that transforms data distribution and monetization, making it possible for companies to easily package data products and launch private marketplaces. His role is to provide guidance to clients and prospects on the many aspects of data commercialization, such as licensing structure, to insure that TickSmith’s clients are successful in their new data businesses.

Prior to this position, he was the Managing Director of the Market Data Services practice for Jordan & Jordan (J&J), a New York-based consulting firm. He has extensive expertise in market and reference data across the securities industry. His in-depth market data experience and network relationships enable him to provide clients with a wide range of consultative services based on clients’ requirements. Among his achievements at J&J, he led a global implementation initiative for a multi-faceted messaging system for a large investment bank. Barry is the recipient of the 2017 FISD Lifetime Achievement Award.

Before he joined J&J, Barry spent 28 years as the Managing Director of the Americas for SIX Financial Information and performed a similar role at GBST, a financial software firm. Barry is a member of the Inside Market Data Hall of Fame and has been a frequent industry panelist and speaker at various venues across the globe. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Buffalo.

He currently resides in Oceanside, California with his wife, Pamela, and they have two adult sons. He enjoys golfing, biking and travel.

Hiroki is the Senior Vice President and Global Head of Audit for Operations Engineering for Goldman Sachs and responsible for driving strategic initiatives, audit planning and resourcing, regulatory interactions, continuous monitoring, and audit projects. His global audit portfolio focuses on a variety of risks and controls related to the technology eco-system that supports pre- and post- trade execution functions, including data governance and management, client on-boarding, trade processing and settlement, treasury, margin, collateral & client valuations, asset servicing, and regulatory/tax reporting and monitoring. Prior to his current role, he was a head of Americas Operations Technology Audit. Before that, Hiroki was responsible for technology audit for Asia in Tokyo, Japan.

He joined Goldman Sachs in 2008, was named Vice President in 2012 and Senior Audit Manager in 2018. Prior to joining the firm, Hiroki worked at Ernst & Young and at Oracle in Tokyo, Japan. Hiroki earned a B.S. in Photonics Engineering from Ritsumeikan University in Japan in 2002.

He has been a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) since 2006 and became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder in 2022. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), CFA Institute and CFA Society New York.

John Bottega

John Bottega is a senior data management strategist and executive with over 40 years of experience in the finance industry. Over his career, John has held various roles in supporting an organization’s data strategy and data implementation objectives. In 2006, John became one of the first Chief Data Officers in finance with his appointment as CDO at Citibank. He went on to hold the role of CDO in both the public and private sectors, serving as CDO for Bank of America, and holding the post of CDO for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

As the former Chief Data Officer at Bank of America, John was responsible for driving the enterprise data management strategy. This included championing the data management policy and standards, establishing and operationalizing data governance, working with technology to define the data platform, infrastructure and tool simplification, and supporting the bank's data scientist team in their efforts to drive improved information analytics.

As the Chief Data Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY), John worked with domestic and foreign regulators on financial sector data management and data quality. While at FRBNY, John led the effort to define and establish the LEI (Legal Entity Identifier), a global information standard for unique entity identification, key to enabling and strengthening systemic risk analysis in support of global financial stability. John also served as a Senior Advisor to the Director of the Office of Financial Research (OFR), an agency established by the Dodd-Frank Act within the US Department of the Treasury, responsible for the analysis and monitoring of industry-wide systemic risk.

Today, John is the President of the EDM Council, a non-profit professional trade association, focused on elevating the practice of data management through best practices, data standards, research and education. The EDM Council supports over 250 organizations comprised of over 10,000 members, helping them successfully advance their data programs within their firms, while creating a global network for data management community collaboration.

John has been a frequent speaker for over 20 years at industry conferences and industry symposiums. He is a former member of the US Department of the Treasury, Financial Research Advisory Committee to the Office of Financial Research; a current member of the Data Coalition Financial Transparency Act Task Force; Data Coalition Open Data Standards Task Force; CPA-Canada Data Governance Committee; WatersTechnology Advisory Board member; member of the Advisory Board of NewVantage Partners, and member of the Board of Directors of ACTUS, a non-profit association focused on the improvement of systemic risk monitoring and financial market transparency.

He also partners with multidisciplinary teams across the organization to drive data-driven outcomes to support customer experience, business resilience, performance optimization, and growth.   

Foster brings over 20 years of experience leading data, automation, and innovation organizations in the financial services industry, most recently as Deputy Chief Data Officer (Americas) and Head of Data Governance at Deutsche Bank in New York. He previously held leadership positions at Europe Arab Bank (EAB) PLC and Arab Bank PLC, both in London.  

Committed to pursuing greater inclusion in the fields of data and technology, Foster has consistently advocated for women in data management, serving in volunteer leadership and outreach roles for Women Data Professionals, the gender diversity arm of EDM Council, a leading global trade association for data and analytics management.  

A native of South Africa whose career has taken him through London and New York, Foster works at M&T Bank’s Tech Hub at Seneca One in Buffalo, New York. Cynthia was a Business Leader to the White House Business Council for the Obama Administration. Cynthia previously served as a Business Leader for New York State Governor’s Ten Points-Women’s Initiative, which aims to break down barriers to women's full participation in society and create a positive and sustainable meritocracy in business. She served as the leading business advocate for the NYC and NYS Minimum Wage Increase speaking before the Governor and members of the Senate, as well as, the Mayor of New York City. As part of her mission, Cynthia provided Testimony to the Independent Democratic Conference of New York State on the issue of Campaign Finance Reform.

She was the previous recipient of the Common Cause Champion of Democracy Award. Common Cause and it's over 400,000 members are one of the most effective and respected organizations working for political change in America, seeking to restore the core values of American democracy and empower ordinary people to make their voices heard in the political process. She was the previous recipient of the Distinguished Leadership Award from A Better Balance, a national organization dedicated to advancing the rights of working families. Cynthia has written numerous op-ed articles that have been published in the NY TIMES, NY Times Digest and TIMES UNION on “Campaign Finance Reform”, “Providing Access to Capital for Small Business", “Increasing Minimum Wage” “Pregnant Workers Fairness Act” and “Women’s Equality”. She participated along with Senator Kristen Gillibrand in the Women’s Economic Empowerment Summit. Cynthia provided testimony before a Congressional Briefing hosted by Senator Robert Casey, Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Jerry Nadler on Making Pregnancy Discrimination a Thing of the Past: The Pregnancy Discrimination Act at 35 & the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, as well as, providing testimony to the Independent Democratic Conference of the New York State Senate Hearing on “Restoring the Voters’ Trust in New York State Government”. Cynthia was invited by Rev. Jessie L. Jackson, Sr., to serve as Chairperson for the Annual Wall Street Project Economic Summit and remains in that role for more than 10 years. John Bottega is a senior data management strategist and executive with over 40 years of experience in the finance industry. Over his career, John has held various roles in supporting an organization’s data strategy and data implementation objectives. In 2006, John became one of the first Chief Data Officers in finance with his appointment as CDO at Citibank. He went on to hold the role of CDO in both the public and private sectors, serving as CDO for Bank of America, and holding the post of CDO for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

As the former Chief Data Officer at Bank of America, John was responsible for driving the enterprise data management strategy. This included championing the data management policy and standards, establishing and operationalizing data governance, working with technology to define the data platform, infrastructure and tool simplification, and supporting the bank's data scientist team in their efforts to drive improved information analytics.

As the Chief Data Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY), John worked with domestic and foreign regulators on financial sector data management and data quality. While at FRBNY, John led the effort to define and establish the LEI (Legal Entity Identifier), a global information standard for unique entity identification, key to enabling and strengthening systemic risk analysis in support of global financial stability. John also served as a Senior Advisor to the Director of the Office of Financial Research (OFR), an agency established by the Dodd-Frank Act within the US Department of the Treasury, responsible for the analysis and monitoring of industry-wide systemic risk.

Today, John is the President of the EDM Council, a non-profit professional trade association, focused on elevating the practice of data management through best practices, data standards, research and education. The EDM Council supports over 250 organizations comprised of over 10,000 members, helping them successfully advance their data programs within their firms, while creating a global network for data management community collaboration.

John has been a frequent speaker for over 20 years at industry conferences and industry symposiums.
